 ABOUT US

About BTP!

BTP Goalie Clinics challenge goaltenders! Friday Evening! Saturday and Sunday...Two full days, ten (10) hours of ice time, and four (4) hours of combined classroom and dryland training. Our weekend clinic format is designed to maximize knowledge and skill retention without the mental fatigue associated with information overload, stress, physical burnout, and family separation found in five day residential goalie camps. Our on-ice student to instructor ratio never exceeds four to one, allowing for a high level of individual attention for each student.

BTP Goalie Clinics are family oriented. We encourage our parents to attend our off-ice training sessions. Parents are the front line of the goaltending support system. Our clinics are held during the weekend to allow for parent participation.

BTP Bottom Line: Today's goaltender must be more Positional, have the Highest Skating Ability, and be a better Athlete. The position is about far more than the butterfly position and movement. Today's goaltender has got to be versatile, a hybrid formed from years of hockey evolution. Our program embraces the newest, innovative, leading edge training techniques, and utilizes the best of the tried and true. Our dryland program, designed by Athlete Construction, is nationally recognized, their techniques are utilized at the college level, the U.S.H.L., A.H.L., and the N.H.L's. Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. We are committed to assisting your goaltender build and hone their skills and find their inspiration, all in a safe, fun, yet challenging environment. Our training is second to none, and our staff is here for your goaltending questions all year long... either by phone or e-mail. We can offer this level of commitment because we are motivated by results... not numbers!

On Ice Instruction

Our professional staff of coaches incorporate and combine the innovative and cutting edge techniques of North American, European and Russian goaltending. Our staff studies and teaches everything from the NHL down. This will provide goaltenders a great foundation to build their elite skills upon. Also significant to this culmination of teachings is that students get to choose their most comfortable style and not be forced into one or the other as decided by the head of a camp. Our on ice curriculum puts our students through the most intensive, relevant and pioneering drills available to date. BTP Clinics will give them the best of all words and none of the bad. Our training sets them on a course to excel... not only during the upcoming season, but it will put them on the path to a long and successful career.

At BTP we have some of the most progressive and up to date toys to sharpen the goaltenders skills. Our clinics include the following:

  1. Large screen boards: this particular tool is used to increase the goaltenders response time by pushing the boundaries of reaction training on the ice. We use numerous drills on this ranging from screen board one timers to screen board skate arounds.

  2. Mini screen boards: These types of screen boards are great to simulate game situations. The mini screen board is great to help goaltenders with the techniques to find and stop the puck with traffic in front of them.

  3. Deflection boards: these simple pieces of modified wood are use for many purposes varying from game situation reenactment, to deflection reaction work.

  4. Utilization of the Boni Puck Machine.

Dryland Training Program
BTP features an NHL dryland training program. It is catered to both groups. The essential group focuses more on out door reaction training and class room knowledge. The innovative group focuses on the hardest and most grouping training handed down to us from Athlete Construction's NHL programs. BTP features an advanced training program designed for Junior level players and above... but adapted to each students ability. Our focus is the introduction of an exciting program that provides a solid foundation that students can build on as they mature and advance through each level of play... keeping this in mind... We are proud and excited to announce our affiliation with one of the fastest growing Hockey Specific Dryland Training Programs in North America! Only at BTP can you find this type of adjusted training that maximizes the goaltending experience.

Reaction Training
Unique in every instance, BTP utilizes our tennis ball shooter to challenge the reaction skills of our students to the absolute max! A North American twist to an old Russian reaction drill... with the student in front of the net, facing the, "ball board", tennis balls are shot against the board at random forcing the immediate visual acquisition of the ball and the forced reaction for the save.

Classroom
The classroom session, is in two parts. Day one starts with a power point presentation that is focused on the importance of the fundamental basics of the goaltenders game. Teaching the tool box approach, students are taken through the BTP's seven specific fundamentals in depth and how each one relates to the other to make up the whole of the basic game. The overall point of emphasis is the importance of mastering the seven components of the fundamental game. At the end of the presentation, the students are exposed to BTP's exclusive formula for goaltending success. Day two is review. The staff will sit down with the student and parent and review in detail their individual still photo analysis. Each student is provided with an individual folder with their photo analysis along with other class materials that they can keep for future reference.
